Institutional Visits

The Andhra Pradesh Legislature introduced year-round programme of school and college visits, exclusively for educational institutions. Through these visits, students from various schools and colleges can gain an insight into how the State Legislature functions, and will add to their understanding of Government and Politics. The visit will include guided tour of the AP Legislative Council and the AP Legislative Assembly.

To request for a visit, the head of the Institution will require to send a formal request on behalf of the Institution at the following address with details of the number of students and teachers likely to visit, and the preferred dates of visit. The Staff at the AP Legislature Secretariat will help with the planning and arrangement of the visit.

        The Andhra Pradesh Legislature (interim complex, Block    No. 6) is located at Velagapudi, Amaravati on the southern bank of the Krishna River. The Legislature building was constructed with a view to provide more accommodation and facilities to Presiding Officers, Hon'ble Members and Administrative Officers. The building was built in two floors, the ground and first floor. The Legislative Assembly and Council Halls are very spacious. These are located in the ground floor along with the Chambers of the Hon'ble Chairman, Speaker, Deputy Chairman, Deputy Speaker, Government Whips of Assembly and Council, Security personnel and Technical room. The first floor accommodates three Committee halls, Library and Administrative Sections. There are separate entrances for the Hon'ble Chairman, Hon'ble Speaker and Hon'ble Chief Minister.

The State Legislature complex is well connected with cities of Vijayawada and Guntur by flight, train and road. Vijayawada International Airport is located at Gannavaram at a distance of 40 kms, is the nearest Airport, well connected with all the major cities of the Country. After reaching this Airport, one can get private cabs at a reasonable price to reach Andhra Pradesh Legislature.

The Vijayawada Railway station is the nearest major Railway station located at a distance of 20 kilo meters. This station is well connected with all the major cities in the Country. After reaching the Railway station one can get private cabs at reasonable price or can reach the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru bus station, Vijayawada which is at walkable distance from the station.

State owned transport buses along with private cabs commute the people from Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru bus station, Vijayawada and NTR bus stand, Guntur. One can board bus No. 301 on platform No.47 in Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Bus station, Vijayawada to reach Andhra Pradesh Legislature.

 

Visiting Andhra Pradesh Legislature on Sitting days:

Both the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council and Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly have separate chambers, separate galleries for VIPs, visitors, media persons and Officers.

The VIPs/media/Officers/visitors can watch the House Proceedings from the respective galleries after obtaining entry pass. VIPs can watch the House proceedings with the permission of Hon'ble Speaker from the VIP gallery. Media persons can watch the House proceedings from Media Gallery after obtaining media entry pass atleast a day in advance from Reception and Protocol section.

Visitors can obtain entry pass from the Reception and Protocol section of Legislature Secretariat on the recommendation of any Legislator of both the Houses/ Secretary General to State Legislature. The protocol section will issue entry pass after verifying the identity proof of the visitor and the pass is valid for an hour. Visitors entry to the gallery is on first come first serve basis.

Visiting Andhra Pradesh Legislature on Non-Sitting days:

        One can visit the Andhra Pradesh Legislature on any non-sitting day from 10.00 A.M. to 05.00 P.M. with a valid entry pass and Id Proof.

        On non sitting days, entry passes will be issued by the Reception and Protocol section as and when they receive a request letter from the Hon'ble Members of both the houses/ Members of Parliament/ Reputed Organisations/ Educational Institutions/ Higher Officers of State Government/ Central Government, addressed to the Hon'ble Speaker or the Secretary General of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature Secretariat.

The security persons will assist and guide the visitors on their visit.
