Leader of the Opposition
The Leader of the largest recognized Opposition Party is generally recognized as the Leader of the Opposition. He is an important functionary in the Democratic system. He is given a status of Minister in recognition of his importance. He raises matters of public importance and demands for detailed discussions on them.
The Leader of Opposition is provided a seat in the front row, a room in the Council with Secretarial and other facilities. The Leader of the Opposition also enjoys certain privileges on ceremonial occasions, viz (i) escorting the Chairman-elect to the rostrum; and (ii) seat in the front row at the time of Address by the Governor to both the Houses
